Instead of trying to be “better” try this…
We have many thoughts and sayings that we strive to live by that sound nice and helpful but can actually be harmful. Thoughts can be sneaky like that.
Lately I've been thinking about thoughts and verbiage such as…
You can have a better life if…
Always strive to be better…
Seek to constantly improve yourself…
They sound nice right? But what these words actually imply is that where you are and who you are in the present is wrong, less than, or somehow needs to be fixed.
But you don't need to be fixed and you don't need to be in a constant, exhausting pursuit of improvement.
Your worth is set at 100% no matter what you do or don't do and you are inherently good and enough.
Can I recommend a change in verbiage that might be a powerful shift in perspective for you? I know it was for me.
Instead of asking yourself, “How can I be better today,” ask yourself, “What kind of human experience do I want to have?".
Then ask yourself what thoughts, feelings, and actions will get you that experience?
This takes your worth completely out of the picture and focuses on creating a life that you love.
If you want a more loving, compassionate, and spiritual experience, you may need to serve someone and seek spiritual practices that work or you.
If you want a healthier bodily experience, you may need to drink more water or eat more vegetables.
If you'd like to experience more of nature then you'll have to plan ways of getting outside.
In short, you don't need to be better or increase your worth, you just need to ask yourself what kind of experience you want to have while on this earth and take simple, powerful steps to attain it.
